FIRST 2022 COUNCIL OF MAYORS IN ROME, ITALY

On 28 and 29 April, CVA members met in Rome for the first Council of Mayors of the 2022 Presidency.

The members had the opportunity to enjoy a day of discovery of Rome followed by a dinner in the prestigious Palazzo Valentini.

The 29th of April was dedicated to the Mayors’ Council and the Ordinary General Assembly, chaired by Pierluigi Sanna, CVA 2022 President and Mayor of Colleferro, Francesco Guadagno, CVA Deputy Vice President and City Councillor, and Mario Cospito, 2022 Secretary General and Vice President Institutional Affairs at Avio.

The meeting was attended by the Mayors of Hardthausen, Les Mureaux, Liège, Kourou, the President of m2A as well as representatives from Bremen, Seville, ESA, ASI, CNES, Arianespace, ArianeGroup, Clemessy and Telespazio Italy.

The highlight of the Council was the presentation by Giorgio Tumino (Chief Technical Advisor at ESA-STS) on “Towards a shared vision of Space Transportation in Europe for 2030+”, followed by a presentation by Sergio Ponzi (Head of Agencies and International Institutions) on Telespazio’s activities and implications in the world of European launchers and at CSG.

The Mayors’ Council is held twice a year and is the decision-making body of the association. This institutional and convivial gathering at the same time, allows to foster the cooperation in the CVA Network, while defining the actions to be carried out by the association in order to increase the influence of the space transportation sector in Europe.

The CVA would like to thank Colleferro and Avio in particular for their warm welcome, as well as all the members who attended this meeting, which was particularly fruitful in terms of discussions.
