The municipality of Hardthausen and the Forum Ariane Lampoldshausen e. V. is extremely proud of taking, once again, the Presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities in 2016. Hardthausen is a small municipality with 4.100 inhabitants but with the partners of the association of the Forum Ariane Lampoldshausen e. V. it represents about 450.000 inhabitants of the region of Heilbronn.
Especially Lampoldshausen as a part of the municipality of Hardthausen is a well-known brand in space technology.
The Space Centre Lampoldshausen guarantees space technology in the forest of Hardthausen through the European Research and Test Centre for Propulsion Systems of the German Aerospace Center - DLR and the Competence Centre for Propulsion Systems of Airbus Defence and Space with in total more than 600 employees.
The propulsion systems of the Ariane 5 are successfully tested by the DLR and the propulsion systems of the future are developed, for example the Vinci engine which will be also integrated in the Ariane 6 upper stage. Unique in Europe are the test stands where propulsion systems are tested – partly almost under vacuum conditions.
Satellite propulsion systems are produced and tested in Lampoldshausen as well, which navigate most satellites in space.

Since 2003 the Forum Ariane Lampoldshausen has been an active member of CVA. The DLR Lampoldshausen, Airbus DS, the University of Applied Sciences Heilbronn, the County of Heilbronn, the EDC of Heilbronn Region, the GIK - common industrial park and the municipality of Hardthausen / Lampoldshausen, all members of the forum, are engaged in underlining the importance of space exploration and with that emphasizing the importance of the Space Center Lampoldshausen.

With our CVA Presidency 2016 we will have the chance, to point out Baden - Wuerttemberg as space location and to intensify the importance of the DLR and Airbus DS as significant enterprises for the European space sector.

Further on we are going to support the aim of CVA to lobby for the European space exploration, but also to motivate young people towards science.

We have already scheduled a various Presidency program.
We are going to start our Presidency program with a New Year Reception on January, 16th 2016. During the ILA Berlin Air Show, we are going to organize a reception at the representation of the State of Baden - Wuerttemberg in Berlin on 2nd of June 2016 to emphasize the importance of Space Exploration in Europe, Germany, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Lampoldshausen.
Furthermore we are going to organize a European-Space-Technology-Transfer-Forum in the representation of the State of Baden-Württemberg in Brusselson October, 17th and 18th 2016.A special invitation circle of important representatives will be invited.
Of course the CVA programmes like scientific holidays, REVA teachers meeting and the next course of the intercultural seminar will be supported by our Presidency.
Additional to these main items on our agenda 2016 we will also organise some activites to make the public in our region aware of the importance of the Space Centre Lampoldshausen.
We hope that we will contribute greatly with our Presidency to the success of the next Conference of ESA Ministers 2016 in Lucerne.
