The Night of Obscurity Hautes-Fagnes

The Nuit de l’Obscurité is an event organised by the ASBL Besace. For several years now, the Nuit de l’Obscurité (Night of Obscurity), a free national event combining fun and scientific activities, has been raising public awareness of the problem of light pollution, which is inherent in everyone’s daily lives but is often underestimated. It’s an opportunity for the world of astronomy to talk about the stars and raise public awareness of the effects of light pollution.

During this event, the ASBL Besace invited and joined forces with other operators working in the popularisation of science, including the Jeunesses Scientifiques.
The public was also able to admire and discover the Ariane exhibition, generously loaned by the City of Liège for the occasion.

The Nuit de l’Obscurité Haute-Fagnes took place at the Maison du Parc Naturel in Botrange on Saturday 14 October 2023. More than 400 people came to visit, take part in the activities and discover the Ariane exhibition.
To promote the event, the ASBL Besace used flyers and posters. These were relayed via their event partners, among others. The presence of the Ariane launchers exhibition was visible on the publicity materials as well as on the programme of the activity.
The Ariane exhibition: The exhibition was displayed inside the Maison du Parc Naturel in Botrange. It was located right next to the conference areas, in full view of visitors.
