A word from Mr François Garay, Mayor of Les Mureaux and 2018 CVA President.
This year, 2018, will see us celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA). This will also be a key year for the launcher which links us all together, since preparations are under way for the transition to Ariane 6.
Succeeding the magnificent city of Toulouse, the city of Les Mureaux is proud to be taking on the presidency of our association for the second time.
Les Mureaux is truly a place of pioneers. From producing the first floatplanes to hosting the visits of Charles Lindbergh and Thomas Pesquet, we have always had our feet on the ground and our eyes looking up at the sky. A new chapter is currently being written, with the construction at Les Mureaux of the hall where the main stage of the Ariane 6 rocket will be assembled.
Because space technology is at the heart of our daily lives without our always being aware of the fact, this presidency must, through its programme of activities, step up awareness-raising and training in the sciences and space-sector careers.
The City of Les Mureaux and the intercommunal Communauté urbaine Grand Paris Seine et Oise wish you all a very full year of space activity!
